Designed with families and beginner surf anglers in mind, this is a welcoming, hands-on introduction to surf fishing. We keep things relaxed and encouraging while teaching the fundamentals of gear, technique, and how the Kenai Peninsula surf fishery works, so everyone — especially kids — feels comfortable and engaged from the start.

An easy-access beach is typically selected to keep things comfortable and family-friendly. Depending on conditions and your goals for the day, we may target spiny dogfish — strong, energetic fighters that are plentiful and a fantastic way to get your surf fishing sea legs. At certain points in the season, halibut may also be within reach from the beach, along with flounder and other species that move through the surf zone. What we target will always depend on timing, tides, conditions, and your priorities for the trip.
